A
shadow passes over the yellow buttercups, quickly moving onto the gravel
path, across green cinnamon ferns, then slowing gently into widening circles over
the lake. High above the shadow, a huge, majestic golden eagle gracefully floats
on the wind currents. Higher and higher it soars as though drawn into the
heavens by an unseen force. Just as the eagle appears ready to disappear forever
into puffy, white clouds, it tilts its head as if nodding in agreement with the
unseen reality and then calmly descends towards the garden.
In a graceful, wave-like rhythm, the eagle sails toward a
tall, white oak on the far side of the water. With the ease of a soft, summer
breeze, it folds its gigantic wings and perches delicately on the highest
branch. Here the
eagle rests, knowing it has the freedom to glide on the wind any
time it pleases.
"…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
(Isaiah 40:31 NIV translation)
