Cautiously, a tired deer approaches the lake. The look of thirst is all over its face. But will the fear of danger, the
worry of enemies, or the vulnerability of coming out onto open ground prevent its
thirst from being quenched?
The frightened,
white-tail deer timidly
steps forward. Lowering its head, the animal laps up a mouthful of
cool and refreshing water, then goes back for more. And more. And more! Feeling
strengthened and satisfied, the deer jumps back into the forest. With great leaps
of joy it bounds through the thick bushes!
"If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said,
streams of living water will flow from within him." (John
7:37)
